About Us

Woodpecker Educational Tours was born in 2022 with the mission of transforming simple hikes into meaningful experiences that connect people with nature in its deepest meaning.

Woodpecker Reserve is part of the Bellbird Biological Corridor, a key ecosystem for the conservation of species such as the emblematic Bellbird, Collared Trogon, Manakin Manakin, Lesson's Motmot, Turquoise Motmot, Toucans and Woodpeckers...

Its biodiversity also protects essential native flora such as Lauraceae and Cecropias, as well as unique fauna among which the Banded Gecko, the red-eyed ravine frog (Duellmanohyla rufioculis), endemic to Monteverde, and different species of glass frogs such as the Cascade Glass Frog and Fleishmann's Glass Frog stand out.

This reserve is a 33-hectare sanctuary protected by a Costa Rican family since 1968. Located between 1350 and 1400 meters above sea level, its transitional forest connects the dry, rainy, and cloud forests, safeguarding an extraordinary biodiversity that can be discovered through day and night walks guided by certified professionals (ICT) and more than 4 km of trails with spectacular landscapes.

“We are a regenerative project that shares the forest through conservation, education and bird watching in experiences that inspire and remain with our visitors”
